Keep It Clean week after week with TechnoFresh!

HI!

The question that I have is the effectiveness of Technofresh on odor problems with buying used shirts from a local thrift store. My spouse is extremely sensitive of odors and has complained a lot when I bring home used shirts to wear.

You mention a moneyback guarantee.  If I try Technofresh on the shirts and it doesn't work to her satisfaction, is the moneyback guarantee for that also.  And/or do you have any suggestions for that problem.

Thanks!
Larry

Hi,

Interesting question.

If the odor is mold/mildew in nature, yes, TechnoFresh® will take care of that . Guaranteed.

If the odor is “chemical” in nature like moth balls, deodorizers, Lysol or stuff like that, TechnoFresh will not help. To remove this type of odor use a modified version of my super shock. For a full load: Instead of laundry detergent use two tablespoonful of dishwasher detergent, two tablespoonful of salt (any kind), and a half a cup of an “Oxy” type bleach powder. Not chlorine. Adjust lower if the load will not be full.

Throw it all into the tub before you put in the clothes. After the washer get started, pause it and add two cups of vinegar. Resume the cycle.

This works in all temps but the hotter the better if you can. It will strip off excess organic based chemicals that are on the fabrics. Odors are almost always organic in nature.

Then run the dryer on the hottest setting for the fabric. 2x runs on hottest, or 3x runs on medium, or 5x runs on cool to vaporize any stuff that can be vaporized.

However, be warned that this super shock mixture will also attack any moldy residue build up in the machine if you have been using too much detergent. You could get stuff broken lose and will need to keep shocking until that problem is eliminated.  Just sayin’ .....

Tips

Tip: If you have a machine that has problems draining:

Remove the drain hose from the machine to the house drain. It is probably full of black goo. That is where your detergent has been going. This is more common than it would seem. Clean out the goo with the gasket mold formula. Then run the super shock a bunch of times You should increase the dishwasher detergent and salt to a quarter cup, and increase the vinegar to a two full gallons. Stick your head in the drum and take a whiff after every shock run to check for odor. When the odor is gone, check the drain hose again. To really make sure the odor is gone leave the wet clothes in the washer overnight with the door closed (just like the old days...)

Tip: If you have a machine that is smelling because it has been contaminated by washing clothes with gasoline, turpentine or any other grease or oil based material on them you could use the above procedure to cut through the oil. You should increase the dishwasher detergent and salt to a quarter cup, and increase the vinegar to a full gallon.

and, wash the oily smelling clothes in this run too...

Tip: This Shock/Flush is also a good way to clean a machine that has fragrance oils contaminating it. This can be an issue with some people who are sensitive to fragrances and have difficulty getting their machine free of the oils (because fragrance oils are so tenacious).

Tip: This shock flush formula is also really good at cleaning baseball caps and pool filters that have body oil and sweat holding the dirt onto the fibers. Soak in really hot formula until the water cools to room temperature. Rinse the caps. Block the baseball caps over bowls or cooking pots to form the shape you wish while they dry. (Insert joke here...)

Spray the pool filter pleats from top to bottom with a high pressure spray from a garden hose to remove the gunk on the surface of the filter fibers. Soak in the solution as explained above until water cools. Spray again. Cleaning can stretch a filter life for years and those puppies are expensive.

BTW: The gunk (and cloudy spa water) is mainly due to the fine particles used in make-up. If you have cloudy water after using the spa and are using a “spa clear” chemical, realize that it is just a large molecule of organic material that is sticky so it grabs the tiny make-up particles and then it also grabs the filter media fibers. If you think about it, this is the same thing as a large organic detergent molecule grabbing fibers and other material from the laundry water and also grabbing onto the surface of the washer plumbing. And that is where we started...

Physics, physics, everywhere...
